Autism - Don't Hate Me

Don't make a monster out of me, media.
Don't make people hate me;
Don't make people fear me.
I just want to live and love.
I just want to help others and have others help me.
Don't make parents say they're afraid of their kids.
(And shame on any parent that says that in front of a camera)
Don't make ignorant people think we're all criminals.
We're not.

People out there...I want them to know, too.
That we're not monsters.

So please, media...please, stop making monsters out of us.
Stop making criminals out of sane, law-abiding citizens just because they have a gun to protect themselves with.
Stop making bad people out of innocent people that struggle with Asperger's and the anxiety that comes with it every day.
Stop scaring the public and giving out incorrect information.
Stop making the public fear us.

Please don't segregate us, or be prejudiced against us just because we're different.
Cause, you know what?
That really, really hurts a lot.
So please...stop hurting us.
We haven't done anything wrong.
We don't deserve to be punished for crimes we didn't commit.
