Description

Next:  Together

Previous:  Friends

This arc is coming to a close (I know a lot of you have been wanting to see more of Caitlin), but I wanted to do this one instead of just having Fletcher's brother run off.
Originally, my main purpose was because I wanted to show two people who are different standing next to each other (Patch and Kairy).
Patch is not on the spectrum, but Kairy is.

They're different, but they're still friends and will still stand up for one another no matter what species, color, or other differences they have.

The second reason I wanted to do this was due to what's going on in America right now.  I don't want to turn this into a political discussion (please do not bring politics into it), but there's been so much hate lately...however, there has also been a lot of love and compassion.

What those people in the latter category have is the ability to care for others.

Patch and Kairy are friends, but people will stand up for strangers even if they're different.  So what if we're different?  That's what makes the world interesting!

If we were all the same, things would be boring.  It's because there are people who are different from us that we can really learn to get along and understand them; learn to empathize with other people.

Patch and Kairy are different; from color to species to Kairy being on the spectrum and Patch having no disabilities.  However, besides being friends, one thing they can get together on is to stick together in the face of adversity because they help one another; because they stand up for what is right and just.

Together, they're not afraid of the bully.  Neither Patch nor Kairy likes to see bullying, especially when someone who is different (Fletcher) is the victim.

Not that people don't disagree; even friends disagree from time to time, but in the end, these people will stand up for one another at the end of the day.  Because they've learned friendship and empathy, they're also likely to stand up for someone they don't even know as well.

Someone who has been on the receiving end of kindness can more easily reciprocate it; someone who has grown up with moral values such as anti-hate and non-discrimination will be one of the first to stand up for someone else.
Even if the situation has nothing to do with them, it's because they put aside any differences they might have.

Because in the end, we're all human.  In the end, we all hurt, we all bleed, we all feel joy, we all feel sorrow...

We all have the capacity to care for one another and the ability to love and help.

The question is, which side of the coin are you on?  Would you stand up for a friend and-or stranger who is different from you?
The answer should be "YES".

I am so glad that Kairy and his friend can stand up to bullies like the guy in the left panel. People with autism should be accepted for who they are and you have just shown how accepting you are of who those people are. I am proud of you. c:
