I'd recommend GRASP or ASAN for folks look'n for good advice from folks that actually have personal experience.  Or, feel free to contact me/Kairy with any questions you might have about autism.

Considering how defensive Autism Speaks gets whenever someone speaks ill of them, I hope this comic strip isn't forced down.

Example?  They tried to sue someone for making a spoof site called "Neurotypicals Speak".  The guy who made the website had autism, and the charges were only dropped when they found out that he was a minor.  He was, however, still forced to take the site down.

Freedom of speech, Autism Speaks.  That kid shouldn't have been forced to take the site down unless it was flat out slander (which, from what I heard, it wasn't)...and I'm allowed to state my displeasure as well.
...and make a little joke in the process.

Was watching a YouTube video from "Gnoggin" about the autistic inspiration in the smash bros series and he talked about how "Autism speaks" treats Autism as a desire to be cured.

WE DONT NEED CURED!

Yea...there aren't many people with ASD (me included) who like what Autism Speaks does.  Whenever I see some kind of charity fundraiser for them, I cringe (and sometimes will actually go up to them and recommend they run it for the Autism Self Advocacy Network (ASAN), instead.

The fact that no one on Autism Speaks actually as autism is the lest of their problems. That treat autism like its a demonic virus, they call it a epidemic. Something that needs to be cursed (yesterday.) They focus on the parents of the autistic kids but not the autistic kids them self's. They make it look like autistic people are suffering worse than cancer.

And in one of their "documentaries" one of the mothers interviewed said that she would often contemplate for 8 hours driving off a bridge (killing her self and her autistic daughter) but didn't because she has a "normal" daughter. And she said this in front of her autistic daughter.

Yeah Autism Speaks is evil.

You know, Autism Speaks is not only bad because none among them are autistic, *which already makes them suspicious* but also, this: goldenheartedrose.tumblr.com/p… UGH.

Already thought about that; I dunno much about them (as I've never met anyone that's had one), so I don't know if a guy who gets a sex change would have to go to a gynecologist, so I just had Kairy say "a typical guy" to cover that base (and any men that might be gynecologists).

Watch this:

It has always just irritates me more than it should. I don't know about other people, but I would be sort of embarrassed if someone made a video like that of me.

For me, it just gives off the impression that I'm a vegetable or something just because I don't talk a lot.

I'm hoping to be able to get AuTalkz out there so more people can see it.

Totally know where you're coming from; I'd show my dad these comics if I thought he would keep an open mind about it.

I consider Autism speaks an outright hate group. might aswell go around saying how black people are surge of earth or how albionos don't deserve to live[actually their both pretty good analogies]

Yea...there are a lot of bad things about them.  What turned me away from them was the controversial video I saw when I first heard of them.  What struck me was that the parents were talking to the camera in front of their autistic children, about how difficult it is.

What ran through my head was "your child can probably hear, and perhaps even understand you".  What really got me, and will forever mar them in my mind (besides all the other nasty stuff about them), was the segment of the video where a mother said that she would rather drive herself and her daughter off a cliff than have to deal with the difficulties that come with an autistic child being in the public school system.

Right in front of her autistic daughter.

I think I may have material for AuTalkz... although some of you may want to look away, if you're obsessive (like me) and easily upset.  If this bothers anyone, just ask mdchan to hide my comment.

It's about the definition of "literally." Apparently "literally" is also able to be used for emphasis according to the Oxford English Dictionary, and from what I understand it has been like this for a while. This makes the other definition meaningless in my opinion, since it can't necessarily eliminate ambiguity anymore. In all honesty I was kind of hoping other obsessive people would email the dictionary companies to fix this, but perhaps that's a bit... insensitive, or maybe I'm just over-thinking this.
